Classes

The nature of classes in college is different. You will notice many differences from the type of assignments that are part of the courses to the structure, style, and dynamics of the class.

High School College
Classes occur everyday in a structured back-to-back schedule Classes are typically one or twice a week. They can take place in the evening and usually the student can choose to space classes during the day or throughout the week
Students spend 30 hours a week in classes Students spend 12 - 16 hours a week in classes
Students' classes are arranged for him/her Students meet with their academic advisor to plan out their schedule or students can choose to register for classes on their own.
Teachers monitor students' attendance Attendance is not always monitored.
Classes can range from 20 - 35 students Classes can range from 75-100 students
Students are typically not required to purchase textbooks Students are responsible for buying their own textbooks
Guidance couselors and teachers remind students of graduation requirements and keep close track of their progress Graduation requirements are complex and the students are responsible for making sure the requirements are met.
