One more item you may have to submit with your college applications is a letter of recommendation. Usually colleges are looking for teachers, coaches, and guidance counselors who you well, to write recommendations for students. You are responsible for approaching these people and asking for the letter of recommendation. It is important that you keep in mind the schedule of the teacher, coach, guidance counselor, etc. Make sure to give ample time to draft a letter. Prior to asking for the letter of recommendations it is a good idea to write a one-page biography to help the person writing your letter. It is also important that you provide the letter writer with a stamped envelope containing your colleges' address. Finally, it is YOUR job to see this process through to the end. Check in with the letter writer to make sure he or she has sent it before the deadline.
